What is Hospice
To enhance the quality of life for patients and families by providing the highest level of compassionate hospice care and bereavement services for our Central Oregon community.

What is Hospice
The legacy of compassionate care at Hospice of Redmond began in 1981 as an all-volunteer agency, serving just six patients per month. We now serve patients throughout Central Oregon.

What is Hospice
We care for patients and families with dignity and respect; in fact, patients and families are our primary focus. Our mission is to serve you in a gentle, compassionate way with a caring presence. Under Hospice care, the terminally ill patient and family can remain together in the comfort and dignity of their own home and avoid the high cost of hospitals and traditional institutional care. Our care is of the highest quality and reflects a commitment to state of the art care. Composed of staff and volunteers, Hospice of Redmond-Sisters interdisciplinary care team is our most valued asset. We create a supportive, nurturing, environment that fosters integrity, accountability and empathy for our patients.

Hospice of Redmond-Sisters is a non-profit organization that works closely with those with limited life expectancy and their families, to help them live as fully and completely as possible for over 25 years.

A Gallop poll noted that, given the choice, 90% of Americans would prefer to die at home. It's an understandable choice. For years, medical technology portrayed death as the enemy. The struggle against it was waged in a hospital full of equipment as new drugs and machines prolonged life. Indeed, dying was a lonely and isolated process in which family members were only guests of a medical facility, with some unknown health professional in control. But, Hospice has changed all that. In these times, Hospice balances advancing medical technology with the preferences of patients and families.

Loving care from Hospice of RedmondNowadays, comfort, not cure, is the focus for the terminally ill patient. A phone call to our office by a patient, family member or physician starts the Hospice process. Hospice professionals then visit the patient and family to provide information, or to admit a patient to hospice care. We follow up to attend the patient and family with great sensitivity, addressing life-threatening illness and subsequent care.

Following physician referral, hospice delivers physician-directed care to patients in their homes regardless of ability to pay. Each patient's individualized plan of care is need-based, but is easily modified if needs change. In addition, patients and care givers get 24-hour access to assistance and information. Hospice is always available to care for patients and families at time of death.
